Job Summary
The Senior Analyst supports General Manager teams by providing data driven actionable insights that guide portfolio management strategies. The person in the said position requires a mastery of both internal and external customer credit card, shopping and interaction data. Provides guidance on acquisition and card member marketing opportunities utilizing partner, card transaction and third party data sources. Identifies transaction and customer's trends at early stages and shares clear business guidance on opportunities and risks. The role requires hands on manipulation of large data sets and the ability to frame and answer questions utilizing an analytical mindset. Thorough understanding of credit card P&L's and ability to utilize them as insight tools is essential. Collaboration and strong communication with both internal and external business partners is a critical component of this role, as is the ability to story tell with data.
Essential Job Functions
- Influence through data: Design, create, evaluate, optimize, and deliver quantitative and qualitative offerings in relation to the portfolio trends, customer behavior. Provide data driven actionable insights to support effective portfolio management strategies using robust analytical techniques. (Including, but not limited to, customer demographic, geographic, financial and lifestyle profiles; transactional, shopping and interaction activities; behavior hypothesis testing, data mining and customized reporting/analysis.)
- Effective Insight Generation: Extract data from a variety of customized sources, with a number of tools. Apply knowledge and experience of a quantitative background to effectively navigate and pull logical meaning around the data. Formulate problem around business need (Design), structure the output (Create), Understand what it means and implies (Evaluate), turn the data into insights (Optimize) and provide the results/recommendations (Deliver) directly to internal partners (GM teams, Marketing, Operations) and 3rd Parties (Brand Partners, Vendors) to directly impact business decisions. Additionally, sound problem formulation and a proactive approach to addressing analysis is required.
- Relationship Management: Act as primary Portfolio Analytics contact/resource for the General Manager teams and Brand Partners supported by the team. Regularly relied upon by the organization, and our brand partners, to consult and provide expert advice leading to decisions and/or recommendations in relation to potential product and marketing offerings, value propositions, customer facing capabilities, and potential partnerships. Effectively researches and resolves ad-hoc requests in relation to current and potential understanding of the end customer.
- Analytics Integration: With the primary analytics member on the general manager team, takes lead on facilitating work that requires expertise of the other analytics COEs (Data science, campaign optimization & loyalty, reporting, etc.) Works as a translator and liaison between business and analytics professionals to ensure effective application of analytics to drive right actions. Collaborates closely with credit management and finance partners to create a holistic point of view using data.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, information systems, economics, finance, marketing, business, or related field of study.
- 5+ years of experience working in marketing or risk analytics of a credit card analytics or financial services company analyzing card portfolio performance, driving marketing and business decisions through data extracts, queries, actionable insights, and customer segmentation.
- Experience with Data Mining Tools (SQL, SAS), and Business Analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, information systems, economics, finance, marketing, business, or related field of study.
