Pacific Infotech UK Ltd. is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Desktop Support Engineer & System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The selected candidate will provide high-level IT support and system administration to our UK-based clients. This is a remote position, but the successful candidate must have a proven track record of working with international clients, particularly in English-speaking countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive Desktop Support for end users, including hardware/software troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Expert in Managing, Maintaining & Supporting Windows operating systems and servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Expert in Active Directory.
  • Expert in Microsoft Exchange Servers.
  • Configure and maintain networking equipment (routers, switches, Fortinet, Sonicwall firewalls) and troubleshoot network issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Handle server administration tasks including backup management, disaster recovery, and system upgrades.
  • Implement and manage virtualization technologies such as VMware.
  • Administer Office 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, etc.), ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Manage security operations including firewall management, antivirus, patching, and system hardening.
  • Provide support for VPN and remote desktop services.
  • Handle backup management using industry-standard backup solutions and ensure data protection.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry best practices for system and network security.
  • Assist in hardware deployment, configuration, and inventory management.
  • Perform system monitoring and performance tuning to ensure optimal performance of the IT infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in IT Support/System Administration.
  • Proven experience working with international clients, especially in English-speaking countries.
  • Expertise in Windows Desktop and Server Administration (Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022).
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, IP routing, firewall management).
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware
  • Proficiency in managing and administering Office 365 environment, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions (Veeam.).
  • Familiarity with firewall technologies, VPNs, and remote access solutions.
  • Level 3 support expertise with the ability to resolve complex IT issues independently.
  • Should have good understanding of IT Security.
  • Knowledge of security practices including endpoint protection, encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified (MCSA, MCSE)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • ITIL Certification
  • Office 365 Certifications
  • Security Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP are advantageous.

Additional Information:

  • This role requires working UK business hours (8 AM 5 PM UK time).
