Job Summary
The Credit Management function facilitates profitable growth, regardless of industry or credit product, by approving profitable applicants and ensuring they have the appropriate available credit while adhering to contractual guidelines and operating within established risk appetite tolerance levels. The Lead Credit Management Analyst is responsible for independently completing the required analyses and developing new strategies for significant clients. Additionally, this role is responsible for helping develop the technical and analytical skills of other risk analysts.
Essential Job Functions
- Portfolio Management: Independently reviews trended key brand or product credit metrics to identify changes in performance and determine the cause and effect of those changes. Publishes the results of the review in a document that is used by bank leadership to ensure performance is as intended. Reviews significant performance changes with leadership to determine if strategy changes are required. Proactively identifies strategy optimization opportunities to drive profitable sales and/or reduce credit losses. Champions new strategies and best practices to be used across Credit Management.
- Data Analysis: Creates and evaluates new account application Underwriting standards for clients or products with minimal guidance from Credit Management leader. Analyzes performance of past accounts and recommends changes to Underwriting and Credit Limit assignment parameters. Creates tests and analyzes new credit limit strategies for clients or products to increase sales and profitability for existing accountholders. Creates and analyzes reporting of key credit risk metrics necessary to understand changes in portfolio risk mix and/or trends in customer behavior. Utilizes analytical skills, technical skills, and data analysis tools such as SQL/ SAS, Python, R, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams), APT, decision trees, and data visualization tools to complete daily work.
- Project/Business Support: Leads or participates in projects and completes ad hoc analyses to target specific business needs.
- Leadership: Mentors and trains Analysts and Sr. Analysts on Credit Management principals and activities. Introduces and shares best practices within the department.
- Business Partnerships and Communication: Effectively researches and resolves ad-hoc requests from internal partners and communicates results with minimal guidance from leadership. Participates in strategic projects and delivers presentations to credit risk (leadership and peers), profitability, and client partnership teams.
Demonstrates outstanding Verbal and Written Communication skills when working with internal and external partners at all levels. Uses communication and presentation skills to influence and drive sound business decisions.

- Normal office environment, some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Degree required: Bachelor's Degree
- Area of Study: Finance, Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative field
- Years of Work Experience Required: 4+
- Type/focus of work experience required: Complex analytical experience focusing on credit cards or other types of unsecured consumer lending, presentation experience to senior leaders.
Preferred Experience
- Degree Preferred: Master's Degree
- Area of Study: Finance, Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative field
- Years of Work Experience Preferred: 5+
- Type/focus of work experience preferred: SAS/SQL proficiency; experience using decision trees, APT, and data visualization software; credit card experience; other consumer lending; training and mentoring of others
