Quality Engineer jobs entail identifying and solving problems in design and manufacturing process by monitoring, testing, inspecting products and ensuring they meet specified standards across industries. S/He tests products and determines the life of a product, reasons for a break down, if any, thereby improving the durability of the product. Responsibilities for Quality Engineers include designing systems to check production quality, ongoing implementation of new testing criteria or assembly methods, regular checking of mechanics and electrical systems of the product to ensure a long-lasting quality product. A Quality Engineer must inspect the product material to verify the dimensions, color, texture and strength of the materials used in the product. They must look for imperfections, if any, and recommend an improvement. Quality Engineers must also go into details about the levels of liquids and gasses in the manufactured product and verify if all components and moveable parts are functioning correctly. They also have to check the flow of electricity and ensure the equipment and machinery are fully operational and there are no glitches in them. Working in laboratory settings, Quality Engineers use micrometers, calipers, gauges, volt meters, ammeters, ohmmeters to fulfill their responsibilities. They also need to have a strong knowledge about the electronic inspection equipment to help them with their quality checks. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in quality, mechanical or industrial engineering for a long career.
