Here's what you will be expected to do as a music teacher – apart from teaching music courses towards, the music teacher needs to look into the students' voice, tone, tempo as well as rhythm skills. The aspirant for a music teacher job will also need to train, rehearse and lead students in various community musical programs. S/he will be required to develop and sustain an effective music course for students. Scheduling classes to instruct and practice within the allocated time is also the teacher's lookout. Understanding the capabilities and skills of each student and guiding each student on an individual level is also the KRA of a music teacher. The music teacher will also need to evaluate her/his student's performance and give appropriate feedback as well as assistance to enhance their musical skills. Maintaining lesson plans apart from developing and updating the instructional materials for students is also the KRA of a music teacher. Maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for students is also a prerogative of the teacher. As a music teacher, the candidate will also be responsible for teaching people instrumental techniques, scales, sight reading and music theory. A vast number of music teachers also help their students to prepare for music examinations, auditions as well as live performances. If the music teacher works with young people, s/he may also be accountable for keeping parents up to date on their children's progress.
