Responsibilities - Develop and maintain WordPress-based websites for the client, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, content creators, and other developers to implement website features and enhancements.
- Customize themes and plugins to meet specific project requirements, ensuring adherence to design guidelines and brand standards.
- Optimize website performance through efficient code, caching mechanisms, and other best practices.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues, ensuring timely resolution of technical problems.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in WordPress development, recommending new tools and technologies to improve workflow and efficiency.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Assist in website migrations, updates, and maintenance tasks as needed.
Requirements - Proven experience as a WordPress Developer with a strong portfolio showcasing WordPress websites and custom themes/plugins developed.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience with responsive design techniques and frameworks (eg, Bootstrap).
- In-depth knowledge of PHP and MySQL, with experience in customizing WordPress themes and plugins.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, bitbucket.
- Solid understanding of web performance optimization techniques and SEO principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Nice to Have - Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks/libraries such as React or Vue.js.
- Understanding of server configurations and hosting environments.
- Previous experience working in the news/media industry.
