Responsibilities:
- Regular Backups: Schedule and manage automated and manual backups of website files and databases, ensuring secure storage off-site or in cloud storage.
- WordPress Core Updates: Keep WordPress core updated to the latest stable version, testing updates in a staging environment before applying them to the live site, and ensuring proper functionality post-update.
- Themes and Plugins Management: Regularly update themes and plugins to their latest versions, removing unused ones to reduce vulnerabilities.
- Security Monitoring (Optional): Implement security plugins and Web Application Firewalls (WAF) to monitor and protect against threats. Suggest appropriate CDN tools as needed.
- Regular Security Scans (Optional): Conduct routine security scans for malware and vulnerabilities, fixing any issues promptly, including cleaning WP PHP files and databases.
- Database Optimization (Optional): Regularly clean and optimize database tables to enhance site performance.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and improve site speed through caching, image optimization, and minimizing HTTP requests. Use a CDN to reduce server load and improve load times.
- Broken Link Checks: Scan for and fix broken links to improve user experience and SEO.
- Content and SEO Audits: Review and update content for relevance and accuracy, performing SEO audits to ensure optimization.
- Access and Permissions Management (Optional): Review user roles and permissions, updating passwords regularly and utilizing two-factor authentication (2FA).
- Monitoring Uptime and Performance: Use tools to track website availability and performance metrics, addressing any issues promptly.
- Legal and Compliance Updates: Ensure site compliance with legal requirements such as GDPR, updating privacy policies and terms of service as needed.
- Regular Content Backups: Besides full site backups, regularly back up content separately.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Test the site on different browsers and devices, checking forms, links, and interactive features for functionality.
- Comment and Spam Management: Review and moderate comments, using anti-spam plugins to reduce spam comments.
- Content Management: Manage, add, remove, or update website content, including addressing functionality issues (e.g., contact forms) and adding new content or pages.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a WordPress Developer.
- Strong knowledge of WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
- Familiarity with security tools and best practices for WordPress.
- Experience with performance optimization and SEO.
- Ability to manage content updates and functionality issues effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
