Job Summary:
1) Wiring Harness Design and Development Manager to lead the design and integration of the wiring systems that power and control our robotic platforms.
2) The person will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of wiring harnesses for autonomous mobile robots.
3) This role requires a combination of technical expertise in electrical systems, design capabilities, and project management to ensure that the wiring harnesses meet product specifications and safety standards.
4) The person will work closely with the engineering teams to ensure wiring harnesses are optimized for performance, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Lead the design and development of wiring harnesses, ensuring they meet electrical and mechanical requirements for autonomous mobile robots.
2) Create detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, and 3D models to guide the production and integration of harnesses.
3) Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure proper harness integration and performance within the overall robot design.
4) Select appropriate materials, wire types, connectors, and components to meet performance, safety, and cost targets.
5) Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of wiring harnesses to ensure reliability, durability, and compliance with industry standards.
6) Manage supplier relationships, including sourcing and procurement of wiring components, and ensure they meet the companys quality and delivery expectations.
7) Document and maintain detailed specifications, bills of materials (BOM), and technical drawings for each harness design.
8) Troubleshoot and resolve wiring-related issues during the product development and production phases.
9) Implement continuous improvements to reduce costs, enhance performance, and streamline manufacturing and assembly processes.
10) Stay informed on the latest developments in wiring technologies, materials, and industry standards to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
11) Ensure all wiring designs comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, IPC/WHMA-A-620).
Requirements:
1) Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2) 5+ years of experience in wiring harness design and development, preferably in robotics, automotive, or industrial automation sectors.
3) Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, Zuken E3) for creating wiring diagrams and harness layouts.
4) Strong understanding of electrical and electromechanical systems, connectors, wire types, and component selection.
5) Experience managing the full product lifecycle from concept design through production and testing.
6) Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
7) Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
8) Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to wiring harness design and manufacturing.
9) Certification in wiring harness assembly or design (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620) shall be a plus.
