- The Systems Engineer II is responsible for supervising the OT Project Coordinator Analysts, coordinating testing of third-party
- software, Enterprise Software Management software packages, and reviewing Qualys reports to formulate remediation plans
- for vulnerable Windows servers and workstations. The System Engineer II is also responsible for reporting project status to
- the OTSEC Windows Manager and coordinating meetings to address project roadblocks and upcoming software and
- hardware changes that could impact the Windows environment.
Job Duties
Systems and Account Management
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure in the Windows environment
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with
- developers to implement those fixe
- Provision industrial systems, physical/virtual servers, and workstations through COSMIC platform
- Assist with the maintenance and overall health of all Windows systems as needed
- Construct moderate SQL statements to extract system details from DB for reporting purposes
- Recommend and implement changes to existing Windows (hardware and OS) infrastructure including patches,
- users, drives, and registry settings
- Works with LAN/WAN/VLAN, TCP/IP, and UDP
- Building Technology Maintenance and Support
- Promptly respond to technical support request
- Assist other department personnel with incidents related to desktops, Avaya phone systems, and computer
- software as needed
- Provides technical support for office renovations
- Ensures that records of system downtimes and equipment inventory are properly maintained
- Training and Administrative Task
- Write and review technical documentation related to projects that have been developed
- Document problems and procedures to help support continuous improvement
- Liaising with vendors and keeping relevant stakeholders up to date with developments
- Independently review and verify changes/solutions of high complexity and ensure governance and change
- management practices are followed
- Guides or provides work direction to technical staff, contract staff and/or interns as needed
- Security and Vulnerability Management
- Implement best practices for system security and application software
- Develop plan to remediate security vulnerabilities reported by Qualys
- Collaborate with security team to troubleshoot, develop, implement solutions to keep systems compliant
- Assist in improving and automating existing vulnerability management lifecycle
- Provide technical support for vulnerability management projects
- Testing and Deploying System Upgrades
- Coordinate Microsoft patch implementation delivery, testing, and release to production environment
- Manage technology vendors, identify issues, and coordinate system update
- Coordinate with IT functions to test and deploy system patches
- Write and maintain custom bash scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on
- any task
- System Backup and Restoration
- Assist with disaster preparation and recovery efforts caused by events like power outages and hardware
- failures
- Perform monthly backup operations and maintain DSC server environment
- Assist with the maintenance and overall health of all Windows systems as needed
Education
- Bachelor s Degree - Engineering Preferred
- Bachelor s Degree - Required
- Accomplishments/Experience
- District level experience and automated project management skills are a beneficial in this role.
