Team Overview
This position requires in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, server technologies, and cloud platforms. It also requires a foundational understanding of industry hardware types and interoperability.
Person in this role must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with other system administrators, both locally and across global locations. He/she may also be called upon to liaise with colleagues on various tasks, including builds, updates, testing, and result sharing, as well as providing operational support for legacy, current, and emerging technologies.
The Global Aladdin Engineering Windows Platform Operations team comprises a diverse group of over 20 professionals spread across three regions. This cohesive team is dedicated to supporting a highly available Windows environment hosted both on-premises and in the cloud.
We are looking for a senior leader to provide technical leadership and manage Microsoft Windows platform to ensure products and services are delivered as agreed to all lines of business.
Role Responsibility
Successful performance in this role requires an individual be able to perform these duties above a satisfactory level. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and competencies required.
- Lead the seamless operation of Microsoft Windows infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Supervise a team responsible for administering and supporting services and products deployed on-prem, on Azure or AWS platforms, fostering collaboration and driving excellence.
- Provide OS support for approximately 7,000 hosts globally, managing Windows Server 2019 and 2016 environments with precision and expertise.
- Spearhead the review and development of processes and automation initiatives, leveraging PowerShell and Python to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Analyze dashboards and reports to assess the status of vulnerabilities, implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks and maintain robust security posture.
- Undertake additional responsibilities which may include server builds, monitoring, configuration, and ongoing maintenance to uphold optimal system performance.
- Execute system administration tasks across the environment, delivering superior support services to our valued customers and ensuring their satisfaction.
- Conduct system recoveries as necessary, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum uptime for critical services.
- Guarantee server availability across all sites and actively participate in disaster recovery exercises to validate continuity plans.
- Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and customer service skills in all interactions and engagements.
- Address help desk escalations promptly and efficiently, processing items in the ticket queue with diligence and professionalism.
- Remain flexible to address critical situations, although there are no after-hours on-call requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing operational support during bridge calls to maintain service availability.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Windows-related projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
- Monitor servers proactively and remediate alerts promptly to uphold system health and integrity.
- Adhere rigorously to documented processes and procedures, always ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Communicate effectively and transparently, fostering clear communication channels and facilitating collaboration across teams.
Experience
- A minimum of 10+ years in comparative industry experience
- Advanced experience administering Windows Server (2016, 2019 and 2022), with proficiency in Active Directory, SharePoint, and MS Exchange.
- Expertise in VMware (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, vSAN, TKGI) with a solid understanding of virtual administration and key virtualization concepts including resource allocation, high availability, load balancing, storage, and networking.
- Experience with Citrix technologies (VDI, XenApp, XenDesktop, NetScaler), knowledge in Citrix Provisioning Services, Machine Creation Services and Citrix Cloud.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Azure AD, and Office 365 administration, including user and group management, security and compliance, and identity and access management.
- Proficiency in DNS, DFS, DHCP, IIS, NT File System, Group Policy, Remote Desktop Services, Print Services, and have strong knowledge of TCP/IP, SSL/TLS protocols, and load balancing concepts.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipeline configuration, automation, and management of cloud infrastructure and services.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell or Python for task automation, including Windows administration, and experience in agile project management.
- Knowledge of cloud concepts and platforms, especially Azure and AWS.
- Strong knowledge of security principles including patch deployment and troubleshooting.
- Experience in managing HP and DELL server hardware including rack-mounted and blade servers.
- Knowledge in BigFix, SCCM, SCOM, FACSys, Canon SecurePrint (UniFlow), and CyberArk.
