Educational B.Sc / M.Sc / M.C.A / B.E: IT or Computer Science

Certification

NQF Level 5

Red Hat Enterprise Linux certification will be advantageous

Relevant Experience

6+ Years of IT infrastructure and OS experience at L3 Level.

4+ Years of LINUX experience at L3 Level.

4+ Years of Scriptng and automaton experience at L3 Level

Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/KRAs/KPIs:

Monitor & systems performance management. (L1 to L3)

Ensure availability and performance of all infrastructure systems. (L1 to L3)

Maintain and service components for Linux servers and storage according to best practices

and in a cost-effective manner. (L1 and L2 OS Only)

Implementation of Infrastructure changes (L1 to L3)

Incident, Problem, Change management. (L1 to L3))

Patch Management. (L1 can do work, L2 plan and schedule)

Ansible Automaton (L1 to L3)

Standby (L1 to L3)

Use shell scripting & Ansible to automate all operational processes & changes (L1 consume

existing scripts & tasks, L2 maintain & consume, L1 & L2 identify new automation processes).

Engage with MG Infrastructure and Operations as well as business consumers of compute

infrastructure to plan changes and maintenance tasks. (L1 and L2)

Capacity planning & workload balancing (L2)

Comprehension of Benchmark standards. (CIS)

Technical Mandatory Skills:

Extensive Knowledge of Linux (Red-Hat/CentOS) (L1 to L3)

Server clustering (L3)

Problem identification and determination. (L1 to L3)

Backup and Recovery

Networking (TCP/IP)

Authentcation - PAM/AD Integration (L2 Only, L1 basic knowledge)

Scripting Bash, Perl (Read) & Python

Unix Security

Excellent verbal and writing skills, both technical and non-technical.

Knowledge of DevOps, and basic SDLC processes

Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

Preferred Skills:

Virtualisation (VMWare)

Containerisation (PODMAN, Docker and Container)

Database and Application knowledge will be a benefit
