The Tunnel Structural Designer is responsible for the design and analysis of tunnel structures. This role involves collaborating with engineers and other design professionals to ensure the structural integrity, safety, and functionality of tunnel projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in structural engineering and a thorough understanding of tunnel construction methods and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Analysis:
Develop structural designs for tunnel projects using industry-standard software.
Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with project managers, geotechnical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs with overall project plans.
Attend project meetings and provide technical input on structural issues.
Coordinate with contractors during the construction phase to address structural concerns and ensure design intent is met.
Compliance and Quality Control:
Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Conduct quality control checks and review designs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Participate in peer reviews and provide feedback on designs prepared by colleagues.
Technical Support and Problem-Solving:
Provide technical support and guidance to junior designers and drafters.
Address design-related issues and provide solutions to construction challenges.
Stay updated with the latest developments in structural engineering and tunnel construction techniques.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural design, with a focus on tunnel projects.
Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro).
Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles as they relate to tunnel design.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of advanced materials and construction techniques for tunnels.
Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.

Work Environment:
