Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Trench Cutter Specialist with in-depth knowledge of BAUER trench cutters, particularly in the areas of gearbox systems and mud pump operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of these critical components to ensure efficient and reliable operation during trenching projects.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on BAUER trench cutter gearboxes and mud pumps to ensure optimal performance.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues within the gearbox and mud pump systems.
Conduct repairs or replacements of worn or damaged components, including gears, bearings, seals, and hydraulic pumps.
Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with manufacturer's specifications and safety guidelines.
- Operation and Monitoring:
Oversee the operation of BAUER trench cutter equipment during active projects, with a focus on monitoring the performance of gearboxes and mud pumps.
Adjust and optimize equipment settings to achieve desired trenching outcomes, while minimizing wear and tear on the equipment.
Collaborate with project managers and operators to ensure that equipment is utilized effectively and efficiently.
Provide technical guidance and support to trench cutter operators, ensuring they understand the proper operation and care of the gearbox and mud pump systems.
Assist in training new staff on the operation and maintenance of BAUER trench cutter equipment.
Work with engineering teams to develop and implement improvements or upgrades to the trench cutter systems.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
Prepare detailed reports on the performance and condition of gearboxes and mud pumps, including recommendations for improvements or necessary repairs.
Ensure that all documentation complies with company policies and industry standards.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations while working on trench cutter equipment.
Participate in safety audits and ensure that all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
Report any incidents or near-misses promptly and take corrective actions as needed.
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
Certification in industrial maintenance or related fields
Experience with other types of trenching or drilling equipment.
Minimum of 4 years of experience working with BAUER trench cutters, with a focus on gearbox and mud pump systems.
Proven experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy machinery, preferably in a construction or drilling environment.
In-depth knowledge of BAUER trench cutter gearboxes and mud pumps.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.
Strong understanding of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software used in trench cutter maintenance.
