The Transmission Analyst will join the Processing support team as part of the Mainframe Technical Services Group. This Transmission Analyst position reports to the Manager of Processing Support as well as the JCL Team Lead and is responsible for the day-to-day implementation involving batch processing in a large scale, high availability mainframe environment.
The analyst Assists with FTP, NDM, and SFTP JCL setup and testing due to circuit, hardware, network and software changes. This requires much interaction with customer and vendor staff. Must also troubleshoot applications and file transmissions as part of a 24 X 7 support team.
This role will require a motivated individual that is highly productive and detailed oriented to work with our development, product, and functional teams.
Role Responsibilities / What You ll Do
Daily duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with ndm test for: circuit, hardware, network, software changes
- Ftp and ndm jobs - add, update, archive
- Review all jcl and procs touched by our group.
- Document procedures for internal use
- On-call support 24 x 7 - we are always primary or secondary
- Cross-training with co-workers
Incident management
- Work all assigned tickets through to resolution.
Maintain JCL
- Create and delete gdg files
- Request racf acess for inbound files via wst
- Ndm & ftp jobs - add, update, archive, and trouble-shoot transmissions
- Notify the tech ops grp (aris k.) When a new ftp goes live
- Ndm procs - add, update, retire
- Make updates to job scan tables
UAT testing
- Assist with ndm test for: client, vendor changes
- Assist with ndm test for: circuit, hardware, network, software changes
- Assist with industry wide testing
- Assist with bcp (dr) testing
Qualifications / Experience Required
- 4-5 years in large scale IT mainframe environment
- At least 4 years of manipulating JCL
- Understanding of and experience with a batch job scheduling software
- TSO/ISPF and SDSF experience.
- Strong problem solving / troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Team player attitude along with strong communication skills.
