Job Description

As a Theatre Teacher at our learning centre, you will be the guiding force behind a program that not only teaches the art of performance but also nurtures creativity, confidence, and collaboration among students. Your role is crucial in crafting a space where the magic of theatre brings stories to life, and students learn to express themselves with authenticity and emotional depth. Under your direction, our centre will be a stage where imagination is unleashed, and every student plays a pivotal role in the ensemble.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence:

  • Conduct comprehensive theatre sessions that covers acting techniques, voice and movement, script analysis, and stage production, tailored for students of varying skill levels
  • Provide individual and group feedback to students, honing their performance skills while fostering a supportive environment that values each student's artistic journey

Showcase Ownership:

  • Direct plays and skits, managing all aspects from casting to final performance, ensuring a professional and enriching experience for both the students and the audience
  • Oversee technical and design elements of productions, collaborating with students and staff to create visually compelling and thematically powerful performances

Student Progress & Development:

  • Monitor and track student progress in theatre and offer tailored interventions for students to grow in the field
  • Encourage students to explore a broad range of theatrical styles and genres, from classical to contemporary, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of the art form

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: At least two years of experience teaching theatre, with a strong background in directing, acting, and production management
  • Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of theatre history, theory, and practice, along with proficiency in directing a diverse repertoire of theatrical works
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students, colleagues, and community members
