6) Liaising with customers and interpreting their ideas and needs accurately.
7) Liaising with marketing, buying and technical staff as well as design colleagues.
8) Considering how the textile will be used and what properties it needs.
9) Researching the properties of materials used in specialist and industrial textiles.
10) Undertaking research for ideas and inspiration.
11) Experimenting with colour and texture.
12) Producing design ideas, sketches and samples to present to customers.
13) Producing designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
14) Checking and approving samples of completed items.
15) Working to deadlines and within a budget.
