Responsible for the performance and leadership of the development, test, release, and integration efforts of software and hardware associated activities. Has specific technical project or product responsibility.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES.Description
Hardware and software integration of new and/or existing systems, functions and LRUs designed by the Development Engineering and the S/W Development groups.
Plan, lead, and participate in test and integration activities for assigned LRU and system functionality. Participate in technical coordination meetings and design reviews. Interface with 3rd party suppliers to ensure delivered software/hardware and applications integrate with Panasonic Avionics In-flight Entertainment (IFE) systems.
Work closely with software developers, product management, project managers to ensure product quality and delivery schedules are met.
Provide leadership and/or technical guidance to lower-level engineers, designers and support personnel as assigned.
Keep management current on development, integration and test status.
Plan work assignments within the established test plans.
Ensure all testing is properly documented, submitted and reviewed.
Responsible for the integration and maintenance of a test rack configuration with regards to the systems installation.
Software and system testing of all IFE functionality for existing systems.
Participate in design, development, and requirements reviews for complex systems requiring extensive investigation and clarification.
Participate in all efforts in the testing and regression testing of software/hardware releases.
Support all engineering efforts company-wide as required.
Create test procedures based-on system requirements and/or design descriptions.
Develop test plans based on researching software/hardware requirements documentation to develop a test strategy to ensure delivered content meets product requirements and objectives.
Troubleshoot problems reported for all Panasonic Avionics IFE products.
Focal point for software development, integration and problem investigation for all assigned equipment.
Troubleshoot and analyze root cause of any system anomalies/discrepancies in hardware and/or software.
Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or
Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
10-15 years of related experience.
IFE and/or Avionics industry-related experience is preferred.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Proficient knowledge of basic avionics interfaces.
Advanced technical background in software development lifecycle.
Adept in standard test practices and methodologies.
Solid understanding in any database language a plus.
Advanced level of knowledge, background and understanding of Windows and Linux OS. Knowledgeable with systems administrator capabilities and command language for Linux.
A strong technical background in development and test.
Proven ability in developing and implementing test methods and procedures.
Possess one or more of the following:
Experience with telephony, cell modem, wireless, SATCOM, Ethernet networks and ARINC protocols.
Experience in embedded software development testing.
Experience with working in real-time operating system environments.
Aircraft engineering or avionics industry related experience.
Demonstrated experience providing identifiable technical contributions to the success of a product or project.
Proven ability to develop technical approach or design, resource, allocation or time schedule on projects.
Extensively modifies existing processes, procedures or methods to develop appropriate solutions.
Demonstrated ability to lead multi-function teams to achieve positive results and perform as a technical expert and source of information. Provide leadership and/or technical guidance to other engineers.
Highly proficient in project planning while addressing external/internal dependencies and associated logistics.
Use skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
Adept with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Electronic Engineering field.
Work on problems of diverse to complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.
Resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
Ability to interact with senior internal and external personnel.
Excellent writing and strong communication skills with proactive attitude.
Ability to effectively communicate in English, in person and on the phone.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
Other Requirements
Ability to travel to domestic or international locations as required, up to 10% of the time.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Majority of time spent at test rack (50-75%) which includes standing, lifting, bending, twisting and stooping.
