Blood Sample Collection: Collect blood samples from patients, following proper collection techniques and ensuring patient comfort and safety
Sample Processing: Prepare blood samples for analysis, including the separation of blood components such as plasma and serum
Cell Counting: Use automated hematology analyzers to perform complete blood counts (CBCs), which involve counting and categorizing blood cells (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets)
Blood Smear Preparation: Create blood smears for microscopic examination, which helps identify abnormalities in blood cell morphology
Blood Typing: Determine a patient's blood type (eg, A, B, AB, O) and Rh factor
Hemoglobin and Hematocrit Testing: Measure hemoglobin levels and hematocrit values, which are crucial indicators of anemia and other blood disorders
Coagulation Tests: Conduct tests to assess blood clotting abilities, such as prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT)
Blood Film Examination: Microscopically examine blood smears to identify and classify blood disorders, such as anemia, leukemia, and thrombocytosis
Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results by regularly calibrating and maintaining equipment and monitoring quality control parameters
Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of test results, patient information, and laboratory procedures
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, infection control measures, and regulatory guidelines in the laboratory
