About The Role

For informal enquiries, please contact Ian O'Donoghue (Technical Supervisor) at [Confidential Information].

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technician with a live events background to become a key member of a positive, dedicated team, working in a vibrant and varied learning environment.

Applications are invited from candidates for this permanent full time (36.5 hours per week) post in the School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures (SCAPVC).

About You

As Technician, the position holder will be responsible for the efficient day to day installation, operation, and maintenance of much of SCAPVC's equipment in specialist areas, including, though not exclusively, the FAB studios & rehearsal rooms, crucial to the delivery of practice-based module course-work and wider event support.

By mentoring undergraduate students, the post holder will be offering training in valuable transferable skills.

The post holder will liaise with students and teaching staff to discuss the feasibility, development of and assisting in the scheduling of practice-based projects, offering support and training where necessary, ensuring that the relevant spaces and equipment are available for technical rehearsals and presentations. The post holder will work closely with the Technical supervisor, regarding any maintenance, operational or development issues, the upkeep of consumable stock and the development of specialist areas and equipment.

Significant entertainment industry experience is required, displaying the ability to work independently and communicate well with designers and artists concerning the planning, installation and operation of a range of performance media. A sound technical background in live production arts is crucial. Design experience is advantageous. Occasional weekend and evening work will be required.
