We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist _ Web Migration to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Ndu (IN-TN), India (IN).
Location: Bangalore or Chennai
*Summary:*
- The role is that of a technical specialist in our IT's Developer Experience Team - A team responsible for tools that make development work easier, from code editors to continuous integration and delivery services for the entire organization.
- The role requires excellent technical aptitude and knowledge of industry software evaluation and blueprinting standards.
- Core areas of focus are software license management, evaluation of software tools, creation of software installer packages, creation of software blueprints, analysis and reporting of standard software usage, testing and documentation.
- Support initiatives of software development standards and compliance and to provide an excellent experience to the developer community in the organization
*Responsibilities (are not limited to):*
- Responsible for packaging software applications and managing the associated licensing processes.
- Develop and maintain standard packaging processes and templates to ensure consistency across the organization.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate packaging best practices into the software delivery lifecycle.
- Create software installer packages. Test and validate software packages to ensure compatibility, performance, and security.
- Establish and maintain processes for tracking software license usage and allocation.
- Provide guidance and support to end-users on software licensing policies and procedures.
- Align with different infrastructure teams to get the right reports to help identify gaps, analyse and create consolidated reports for following-up as well as to present progress.
- Automate generation of reports and analytics to optimize software license utilization and costs.
- Evaluate and curate FOSS (free and open source software) ensuring only the most secure and reliable tools are brought into use.
- Select and evaluate appropriate commercial software tools for use in the organization.
- Create software blueprints.
- Manage and optimize software licenses.
- Investigate quality, safety, and efficiency of software tools.
- Provide recommendations or solutions to address any identified issues.
- Prepare and publish Terms of use for approved software.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in software packaging and license management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and solutions.
- Provide training and support to internal stakeholders.
Experience and Skills Sets required:*
- Overall 6-10 years of experience in IT.
- 3-5 years of experience in software packaging, deployment, and license management.
- Strong understanding of software packaging tools and technologies.
- Familiarity with software licensing models and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and best practices.
- Understanding of software security principles and practices.
- Experience creating blueprints for software solutions.
- Ability to create developer building blocks.
- Experience in leading technical discussions and facilitating decision-making processes.
- Proficiency in one or more programming / scripting languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Python, Shell Script)
- Expertise in software modeling and diagramming tools (e.g., UML, Visio, Lucidchart).
- Understanding of cloud computing concepts and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, containerization, infrastructure as code).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and practices.
