On the Risk as a Service (RaaS) team, we build AI-driven risk management tools to help some of the world s largest online sellers accept payments online safely and securely. In this role, you ll collaborate with merchants, data scientists, and engineers to build models and tools to help merchants manage payment risk.

Risk as a Service at PayPal is a highly available and sophisticated platform that enables the deployment of highly responsive fraud strategies, machine learning experiments, and is optimized to respond proactively to fast-developing cybercrime threats. The Risk as a Service Product Management team thrives in environments where we can help our customers understand and address the complex domain of payments risk management.

The Risk as a Service team owns a suite of risk and chargeback solutions targeted at merchants of all sizes who need to process payments online safely and profitably. We collaborate with data scientists, engineers, sales, legal, customer support and many more to deliver impactful solutions every day.

Job Description:

Your way to impact

  • Help identify, build and launch capabilities that make PayPal s Fraud Prevention tools the solution of choice for merchants processing online payments worldwide

  • Bring a relentlessly customer-focused perspective to every decision we make, ensuring all of our customers not only use our tools successfully, but with genuine excitement, becoming our biggest advocates

  • Identify and execute on opportunities to drive improved revenue and operating margin across our product offerings

  • Work with product leaders on shaping the product strategy and roadmap and set key business goals (OKRs).

  • Serve as a product SME in strategic pre- and post-sales customer engagements

  • Be a thought leader in driving the product strategy, in tandem with the leadership team

Your day to day

  • Author product requirements and use cases by working closely with customers and internal stakeholders like Data Science, Architecture, Customer Support, Integrations, Pricing operations, Finance, Legal & Compliance and more

  • Bring a strong industry perspective geared towards machine learning/artificial intelligence that can help shape and evolve our products to the next level

  • Develop a deep technical understanding of our flagship AI-driven payments fraud prevention tool and have a strong empathy towards the pains and challenges of platform users such as developers, data scientists, and risk analysts

  • Think end-to-end about our fraud management solutions, including the onboarding journey, day to day usability, reporting, API engagement, pricing, and operational support

  • Embrace and lead an Agile team of highly engaged engineers through the software development lifecycle while practicing transparency, trust, collaboration, and humility

  • Identify product and enablement gaps through feedback from regional teams, stakeholders, market research etc

  • Establish a strong network of internal partnerships and advocacy with peers across all cross-functional groups in PayPal

What do you need to bring

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services with deep working knowledge of risk management and disputes methodologies, OR 2+ years of experience in leading the development of technical products and large-scale platforms with high-reliability requirements

  • A strong sense of customer empathy, and deep curiosity and enthusiasm for solving customers problems

  • Familiarity with the fraud and risk management space, and a genuine desire to use technology to address merchants most critical needs

  • Experience using AI and machine learning tools to solve business problems

  • Data-driven, enthusiastic, and passionate about agile product management, to deliver breakthrough consumer experiences

  • Strong technical background and ability to understand and work with

    • Front-end and back-end solution documents,

    • API design based on internal and external requirements,

    • Defining and setting up platform metrics and monitoring,

    • Defining and understanding integration requirements with external platforms

  • Excellent people and communication skills are essential. The candidate should have the ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels of management, both inside and outside of PayPal
