Job Description Lead (Direct Tax)
Qualification - Chartered Accountant
Experience - 5 to 10 years
Job Purpose:
As the Lead Direct Tax professional, he/she responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of tasks aimed at ensuring comprehensive and compliant management of direct tax functions. Your role involves a combination of strategic planning, meticulous execution, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting Manager: Head (Taxation)
Responsibilities:
Advance Tax & Income Tax Return:
Computation and payment of advance tax liability. Preparation and filing of Income Tax Return.
Income Tax Assessment / Reassessment / Appeals
Preparing draft submission for assessment / reassessment / appeals. Appearing before the tax authority for the proceedings and assisting Head of Taxation in this regard.
Quarter and Annual Closing:
Computation of tax provisions and deferred tax for quarterly and annual closing.
TDS/TCS Reconciliation:
Ensuring accurate reconciliation and monitoring of TDS/TCS credits, maintaining compliance standards.
SFT Returns:
Preparation and filing of annual Statements of Financial Transactions (SFT) Returns, adhering to regulatory requirements.
Auditor Liaison:
Collaborating with Statutory Auditors for quarterly and annual closing compliances.
Legal Representation:
Coordinating with legal counsel for matters before the Tribunal, High Court, and Supreme Court.
Withholding Tax Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with withholding tax regulations, including the preparation of Form 15CA and 15CB.
Advisory Support:
Providing guidance and assistance on day-to-day tax-related issues raised by various units within the organization.
MIS Management:
Overseeing the preparation and monitoring of Management Information System (MIS) related to pending tax matters and their status.
Legal Analysis:
Conducting thorough analyses of judgments from Tribunal, High Courts, and Supreme Court, evaluating their impact on the organization.
Regulatory Updates:
Regularly monitoring amendments in tax provisions, communicating relevant changes to stakeholders, and assessing their overall impact on the organization.
Compliance Supervision:
Supervising overall direct tax compliance, ensuring accuracy, and providing regular updates to Management and the Board.
Process Automation:
Identifying opportunities for process automation to enhance efficiency and ensure timely compliance.
