Job Summary
The role of Tax Senior is to participate in the tax preparation process for partnerships (Form 1065), preferably serving the Private Equity clients as well as serving the clients in Real estate/ Financial Service Industries to ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations based on their industry preference or specialization. Tasks will include preparing intermediate level returns, reviewing basic tax return engagements, and researching and resolving tax issues. The Tax Senior is responsible for supervising, motivating, and developing our tax associates and interns.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of complex 1065-Partnership returns for Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Venture Capital Funds, Fund of Funds (federal & state jurisdictions returns).
- Sound Knowledge on Debt Financed Distribution, Gain Calculations, Entity Structuring, UBTI, 199A, 163j, Depreciation, 743(b), Section 754 election, K-2 and K-3, Tax Capital Account, State return and adjustment.
- Experience working on 1120S (S Corp) is appreciated and basic understanding of Individual tax returns (1040).
- Detail review of simple and moderate returns of partnership both federal and state.
- Advance level tax technical knowledge on state tax returns (SALT) applications, nexus and filing requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of tax allocations, waterfall, Instalment Sales.
- Working Experience on Sec 163J and Sec 199A.
- Advanced understanding of 1042, 8805, state withholding forms and types of investors (Limited and General Partners).
- Assist staff in addressing the tax issues with proposed solutions.
- Work towards tax technical skills enhancement by working on secondary and cross skills set and able to drive this with staff and help them to grow.
- Review basic tax return engagements.
- Work effectively in analyzing business transactions.
- Gather data from both internal and external sources.
- Perform tax research with view for alternatives to satisfy customer's objectives.
- Resolve all open items/issues encountered on assigned engagements.
- Actively monitor engagement economics by managing budgets and seeking efficiencies.
- Bottom-line management of assigned engagements and individual productivity opportunities, becoming a subject-matter expert in one or more technical aspects
- Teach, develop and oversee associates through engagements, as well as delegate assignments and tasks when applicable.
- Provide honest, objective and constructive feedback in timely manner to associates.
- Serve as a mentor and role model through active participation in firm committees, departmental matters, and events.
Requirements
- Graduate or PG in Finance/Chartered Accountant/Enrolled Agent
- Min 3+ years of public accounting firm experience (U.S. Taxation experience)
- Ability to read and interpret a complete set of financial statements.
- knowledge in US Tax Code is required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong time and work management skills
- Software experience in SurePrep, CCH , Onesource and Caseware will be appreciated.
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is expected to work in our office. Flexibility is granted to employees to work remotely on an as-needed basis.
Position Type / Expected Billable Hours of Work
Non-Busy Season / 40 hours per week.
Busy Season / Extended hours required, will scale up not to exceed 65 -70 hours per week.
