The Tax Resolution Specialist IV is a client-facing role that acts as a liaison between the client and the tax agency. They help prepare & process amendments and/or research agency notices with precision. Their activities help to both satisfy agency requirements and prevent future issues. As such, this individual is responsible for maintaining good client standings with the respective tax agency.
What you ll get to do
- Resolve and process tax jurisdiction correspondences/ amendment forms ranging from a simple to complex level.
- Analyze and research issues that caused a tax agency to issue an out of compliance notification to customers. Review and investigate inquiries from tax authority agencies and respond promptly to resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and file original and/ or amended for federal, SSA, states, and local tax returns.
- Resolve client inquiries accurately and expediently with a high level of customer service.
- Maintain contact and interact with any taxing agencies and authorities to obtain and analyze information necessary to complete tax filings.
- Communicate with internal and external customers via phone, email, and fax to obtain information or required approvals for issues regarding tax jurisdiction or amendment correspondences.
- Maintain a knowledge of agency requirements and forms; up-to-date knowledge of tax issues for Federal, states, and local taxing agencies and authorities.
- Read and comprehend information in electronic (computer) or paper form (written/ printed).
- On an as-needed basis, assist with tax filing processing and may participate in cross training.
- (Amendments) Understands the end-to-end amendment process, to include the preparation work behind the amendment.
- Negotiate with agencies and customers to ensure that all involved are reasonably satisfied with the solution.
- Maintain compliance and minimize tax risks by following strict policies. Must identify tax payments to reduce financial impact and tax penalties & interests.
- Partners with other internal departments to resolve issues, remove barriers, establish service level agreements, and improve processes impacting the daily operation of the Dayforce Tax Services business.
Skills and experience we value
- Associate degree or equivalent 1 - 3 years of related tax / payroll / accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- American Payroll Association Certification FPC Knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws is preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal for both verbal and written skills are required and used extensively.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced office environment performing multiple tasks cohesively, with keen attention to detail.
- Detail oriented with the ability to accurately follow process, procedures and regulations in the workplace.
- Strong organizational and follow up skills with a sense of urgency.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work on one s own.
