Summary
We seek a highly skilled and experienced tax professional to serve as our Tax Director for Individual Taxes. This leadership role combines hands-on technical mastery in US individual tax with expertise in training, team development, and operational process improvement. The ideal candidate will have a track record of handling complex US tax returns for HNIs and smaller clients. You'll collaborate closely with our Plano, TX office to ensure seamless client experiences and stay abreast of the latest tax law developments.
Requirements
Technical Leadership and Client Service
- Serve as the subject matter expert on US individual taxation, including international forms (1040,1040NR, 8938, 8621-PFIC, 1116, 114, 2555, 1031, 8865, 5471, Form 709, form 3520 Gift tax return etc).
- Prepare and review complex US individual tax returns, particularly for HNI and small business clients.
- Directly engage with clients to address inquiries, resolve complex tax issues, and build relationships.
Knowledge Management and Training
- Design and deliver comprehensive training programs and materials for team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development in individual tax preparation.
- Develop and maintain a centralized knowledge repository for US individual tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance and support to enhance their expertise and performance.
Process Improvement and Collaboration
- Analyze existing tax preparation workflows, identifying opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains.
- Partner with the Operations team to implement and refine processes that enhance productivity and quality.
- Collaborate closely with the Plano, TX office for seamless client service, and knowledge sharing, and to align on best practices.
Experience & Competencies
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in US tax services, with a significant portion focused on individual taxation.
- Prior experience at a Big 4 firm is highly desirable, in addition to experience in smaller firms.
- Proven track record of successfully handling complex US tax returns for HNI and business clients.
- Experience in training, coaching, and team leadership.
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of US individual tax laws, regulations, and international tax forms.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, Drake)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
