nPOSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
nThe Systems Engineer II is focused on the design, construction, testing, implementation, and optimization of infrastructure systems.
nDETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
nLevel II
- nInvestigates and resolves Level 1 and Level 2 problems in infrastructure.
- nUtilizes standard tools to analyze, identify and resolve technical problems.
- nServes as a liaison between the customer, suppliers, and other technical groups to resolve problems.
- nPerforms high level analysis of complex network system integrations.
- nApplies specialized knowledge in network infrastructure to conceptualize, design, construct, test, implement and optimize network infrastructure.
- nEngineers SA-related solutions for various minor projects and operational needs
- nContributes to and maintain system standards.
- nResearch and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for sys admin tasks.
- nServes as an escalation point for level 1 problem or incident management.
- nAnalyzes performance problems and recommend solutions to enhance functionality, reliability and/or usability.
- nProvides Level 2 support per request from end users.
- nInvestigates and troubleshoots complex issues.
- nRepairs/recovers from hardware and software failures; coordinate and communicate with impacted end users.
- nPerforms periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
- nPerforms ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- nPrepares reports and presentations as requested or necessary within GTS.
- nRotational ON-CALL support during weekends to support 24/7 operations.
- nPatching Linux systems.
- nProviding production support and assist projects wherever Linux team help required.

- nExperience with monitoring, reporting, management, and optimization tools regarding systems
- nStrong passion for technology and ability to stay current.
- nFamiliarity with automation tools preferred
- nAbility to design and implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- nExpertise in ITIL and Services Management Principles
nCertificates / Training:
- nPreferred: ITIL v3 Foundational+ certification, Redhat Certified Systems Engineer (RHCE)
nExperience:
nLevel II
- n3+ years systems engineering
- nPreferred: 5+ years of IT experience
nEducation:
nRequired
- nBachelor's in Information Technology or equivalent
