System Administrator

We are seeking a motivated and technically adept System Administrator Trainee to join our IT team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a budding IT professional to gain hands-on experience in system administration and networking. The successful candidate will work closely with our seasoned professionals to learn and apply best practices in maintaining our organization's computing environment.

Responsibilities:

Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of Linux OS and Software.

Acquire knowledge of LAN, Wireless, WAN, Routing, and Networking, and demonstrate proficiency in networking protocols.

Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of routers, switches, load balancers, servers, storage devices, and network equipment.

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.

Assist in administering and maintaining user accounts, permissions, and access rights.

Work alongside senior team members to implement security measures ensuring the organization's data and systems are safeguarded.

Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot IT-related incidents, and escalate issues as necessary.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the implementation and upgrading of software applications.

Contribute to the execution of regular system backups and participate in the development of disaster recovery plans.

Stay updated with emerging technologies and assist in making recommendations for system improvements.

Contribute to the documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Demonstrate basic knowledge in any of the cloud environments (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).

Develop excellent knowledge of Security systems (Firewall, Ipsec), and gain proficiency in Hosting control panel (cPanel) and Scripting (Bash/Shell).

Required Skills and Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Proven experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role.

Strong understanding and knowledge of Linux OS and Software.

knowledge of Oracle Database, including its architecture, components, and features.

Proficiency in Database (MySQL, Postgres, MariaDb)

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.

Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Knowledge in windows system administration will be an added advantage for the position.

Exposure in Windows and Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) Server Administration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: MCSE, RHCE, RHCT, CCNA, CCNP are added advantage.
• Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) - Oracle Database Administrator
