JOB DESCRIPTION
Cassandra DBA
- Install/Design and help implement new Cassandra deployments.
- Manage Cluster / maintain / Evaluate existing clusters and provide recommendations on best practices.
- Provide performance and forecast reports on the health and load of critical business processes to help ensure the infrastructure has adequate capacity.
- Install/configure/upgrade/maintain/tune and administration of Apache Cassandra.
- In-depth knowledge of Cassandra read-write paths and internal architecture.
- Experience in creating Column Families: Bootstrapping, decommissioning, removing, and repairing nodes.
- Adding, removing, and replacing nodes, repairing, clean up, rebuild, troubleshooting, and monitoring the Cassandra cluster.
- Taking snapshots, recovering from snapshot, disaster recovery and incremental backup of Cassandra cluster.
- Performance tuning Apache Cassandra.
- Experience in creating key spaces, tables and secondary indexes in Cassandra and working with Cassandra Query Language.
- Experience in setting up the required replication factor for key space. Participate in DBA team on-call pager rotation and on-call support duties.
- Daily operation support on DB tasks on incidents, requests, and change activities. Set up automation like running repairs/compaction.
MYSQL DBA
- Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
- Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
- Strong proficiency in MySQL database administration.
- Decent experience with recent versions of MySQL
- Understanding of MySQL's underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
- Experience with replication configuration in MySQL
- Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
- Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
- Knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler
- Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
- Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc. if required
- Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
