As a Sustainability Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support in climate-related initiatives within the organization. Leveraging your extensive experience and knowledge in climate science and environmental sustainability, you will drive strategic initiatives, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to the company's commitment to mitigating climate change impacts.
Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Assist in the development and implementation of climate action plans and strategies aligned with organizational goals and international climate agreements.
- Conduct comprehensive climate risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develop adaptation measures.
- Analyze data and trends related to greenhouse gas emissions, climate impacts, and sustainable practices to inform decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate climate considerations into various aspects of operations, including supply chain management, product development, and corporate sustainability initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise and support in renewable energy projects, energy efficiency improvements, and carbon offset initiatives.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and industry partners, to advocate for climate policies and foster partnerships for collective action.
- Monitor regulatory developments and emerging trends in climate science to ensure compliance and inform strategic planning.
- Develop and deliver training programs and educational materials to raise awareness and build capacity on climate-related issues within the organization.
- Conduct research and analysis on innovative technologies and best practices in climate mitigation and adaptation to drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and communications to communicate key findings, progress, and recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in climate change mitigation, adaptation, or related areas.
- Demonstrated track record of leading successful climate-related projects or initiatives in a corporate or organizational setting.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external partners on climate-related issues.
- Proven ability to manage complex datasets and perform statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and carbon accounting methodologies.
Good to have :
- Master's degree or higher in environmental science, climate policy, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications in climate change, sustainability, or related fields (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001).
- Experience in conducting life cycle assessments or environmental impact assessments.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as carbon capture and storage, renewable energy systems, and circular economy principles.
- Fluency in multiple languages, particularly those relevant to international climate negotiations.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy campaigns.
