JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Supplier Technical Assistance
Reports To: BUI Operations Manager
Role Type: Individual Contributor
Location: Pune (Factory)
Purpose of the role:
Drive supplier improvement activities to bring suppliers to level to meet quality & delivery requirements.
Support development of alternate supplier base for cost optimization especially for Castings and machined components.
Responsibilities:
Reviews supplier manufacturing processes, supplier quality data, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities.
Collaborates with the Quality department & engage in providing trainings & improving awareness amongst the suppliers
Communicates with suppliers and internal stakeholders on a regular basis to maintain effective relationships & ensure on-time deliveries in a cost-effective manner
Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues
Supplier corrective action audits, Supplier training, technical assistance to supplier on manufacturing processes in coordination with SKF quality /engineering /production teams / Quality system deployment at supplier end
PPAP Management for new suppliers/new products
VCC Management for all the vendors who have not adhered to the Quality guidelines
Monitors supplier's performance and drives supplier improvement action plans.
Monitors Action Logs, assigning resources & the timelines for the successful completion of the work.
Translate functional requirements (from client needs via SKF Application & Product Design functions) into supplier deliverables (interpret specifications into necessary outcomes).
Conducts Project Review meetings, escalates supplier issues and coordinates resolution between internal stakeholders, sourcing category leads and suppliers
Evaluates Technical Feasibility commitment, Analysing Risks & securing series supplies
Manages the supply base, identifying opportunities for improvement and enhancing cost reductions
Assist the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance
Conducts Supplier trainings and provides awareness on quality
Support and lead process improvement activities at the supplier
Evaluate and recommend new technology and ideas for improvements to production
Should be capable to conduct PPAP run at Suppliers
Offer suggestions to improve casting and Machining part production.
Capable to incorporate Continuous process improvement actions, Layout and material handling system improvement, Line balancing and capacity enhancement strategies.
Ensure compliance of suppliers Quality management Systems

Competencies
Good exposure of casting and Machining processes.
Through depth Knowledge of Foundry Process and Technology.
Familiar with Cast Iron/Spheroidal Graphite/ Steel Castings.
Strong Supplier base for Casting and Machining
Strong abilities in reading, interpreting and analysing engineering drawings with developing new products in conformance to pre-defined technical specifications.
Analysis of casting layout in mould box, casting drawings, preparing Process flow diagram.
Use mould flow simulation software (in conjunction with SKF PD and/or suppliers), to facilitate rapid product development & industrialisation
Reviewing the engineering / design changes & resolving quality related problems associated with design.
Understanding of Gating system
Good knowledge on PPAP, Corrective & preventive actions, Why- why analysis, 8 D report, FMEA, SPC, Control plan
Excellent interpersonal skills, proven team player with an analytical bent to problem solving and delivering under high stress environment
Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal & written), presentation and management skills.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's in mechanical engineering with 6-9 experience.
Experience in vendor development, Quality, supplier improvement, casting and machining knowledge must.
