Responsibilities
The RSM Cloud and Data Center Team Azure Cloud specialist performs project and support services to RSM clients. As part of a diverse team of traditional and cloud engineers and architects, the Azure Cloud specialist delivers hybrid and Azure solutions and contributes to standardization and documentation. To serve as a senior associate-level the following tasks and duties must be regularly performed:
- Interface with clients, serving as a representative of the Cloud and Data Center Team, RSM Technology Consulting, and RSM as a whole
- Understand client business objectives and create and/or implant cloud-based solutions to help achieve those objectives
- Provision and configure client Microsoft Azure resources
- Migrate clients traditional workloads into the Microsoft Azure cloud and assist with the overall transition
- Maintain the security of client cloud environments, harden deployments, and take responsibility for minimizing downtime risk from cyber security events
- Evaluate risks associated with third-party platforms and/or frameworks
- Lead efforts in thought leadership including keeping the Cloud and Data Center Team up to date on industry best practices and collaborate with team members to continually evolve RSM best practices and standards
- Resolve cases and tickets related to client Azure environments including moves, adds, changes; as well as break-fix type issues
- Create project and product quotes, create statements of work, and participate in the entire sales cycle
- Take a leadership role in the overall delivery of projects while adhering to budgets and effectively managing other cloud resources
- Contribute to assessment engagements of clients current and future cloud and data center designs and configurations
- Lead pre-sales engineering efforts and participate in the architecture of cost-effective, scalable Microsoft Azure environments for clients
- Develop, manage, and mentor junior team members
- Create and maintain client documentation
Required Experience
The successful RSM Cloud and Data Center Azure Specialist will possess the following skills:
- Azure Active Directory and Azure role-based access controls proficiency
- Mastery of the configuration of Azure Files, Azure Blob, and Azure temporary storage
- Mastery of Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines
- Setup and modification of Azure Virtual Networks
- Design and configuration of Azure Virtual Desktops
- Use and administration of Azure Blueprints
- On-premises Microsoft Active Directory administration
- Administration and configuration of Windows Server (2016, 2019, and 2022)
- Backup and replication concepts and technologies
- Ability to thrive in a consulting practice, often shifting focus between different clients, environments, and technologies
- Deep understanding of network concepts including IP addressing, VLANs, routing, subnetting, etc.
- Experience with VMware vSphere in the traditional data center and Azure VMware Solution
- Comfort with S3 storage
- Understanding of firewall concepts
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Site Recovery
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a matrix reporting model
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English
- Problem solving skills
- Creation and update of diagrams using Microsoft Visio
- Linux administration skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) proficiency
Additional skills that are helpful:
- Good working knowledge of Azure Resource Manager, Bicep, VM extension, and/or Azure Automation, Azure NetApp Files
- Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) experience
- VMware
- Veeam
- Zerto
- Data protocols including NFS, SMB, iSCSI, FC, and/or NVMe
- Amazon AWS experience
Minimum Qualifications
The following experience, education, and certification are required:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant information technology experience i
- 3 years of deploying and managing workloads in Microsoft Azure
- Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification or equivalent
- Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) certification; or ability to earn certification within 60 days of hire date.
- Previous consulting experience
- Ability to work well with team members, clients, and vendor partners
- Experience working within a matrix organization structure
- Strong ability to troubleshoot client issues and solve complex technical problems
- Superior organizational, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, develop strong working relationships with clients, and juggle competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Management Information Systems, or other related business field
