The Strategic Sourcing Delivery Excellence Team RFP and Contracting Manager will create / support / run RFP events in alignment with defined category strategies and instructions, and within defined thresholdsand execute supplier contracts. The RFP and Contracting Lead will work closely with Strategic Sourcing Delivery Excellence and Category Managers, Alight business partners, finance, legal and other functions to ensure alignment to business strategies and objectives and ensure operations continue as smoothly as possible year-round. This means establishing requirements, researching the market and evaluating suppliers, as well as negotiating contracts and managing risk. The RFP and Contracting Manager will also support and coach other RFP and Contracting team member(s) and provide flexible support as needed to support all Delivery Excellence Team roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing procurement strategies: Create long and shorter-term comprehensive strategies for sourcing goods and services that align with organizational goals and objectives.

  • Managing RFP processes: Oversee the RFP process, from drafting and issuing RFP documents to evaluating proposals and selecting suppliers.

  • Contract with suppliers within defined thresholds and closely collaborate with Strategic Sourcing Category Managers where appropriate to ensure the RFP process flows into specific contracting requirements.

  • Supplier relationship management: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and manage ongoing contracts to ensure that business requirements are delivered.

  • Market analysis: Analyze global market trends to identify potential suppliers and assess the risk associated with them and work closely with Strategic Sourcing Market Research & Analytics team.

  • Negotiating contracts: Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure advantageous agreements for their organization.

  • Ensuring compliance: Ensure that procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Cost management: Work to effectively achieve cost savings and efficiency gains in procurement activities.

  • Performance tracking: Track and report supplier performance to ensure that they meet contractual obligations and performance metrics.

These responsibilities are critical for ensuring that the procurement process adds value to the organization and operates efficiently.

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years procurement related experience.

  • Demonstrated Communication Skills: Clear communication with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated Strong Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and clear, effective presentation of RFP and sourcing event requirements.

  • Demonstrated Ability to Think Critically Collaborate well with team members adaptable flexible collaborate with other workstreams team player and problem solver.

  • Impeccable Time Management Skills

  • Operates independently with little oversight or guidance.

  • Focus on understanding and enhancing sustainability.

  • Demonstrated Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term procurement strategies that align with organizational goals.

  • Market Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing market trends to identify the best suppliers and understand the risk associated with them and leveraging resources from the Strategic Sourcing Market & Research Analytics team where needed.

  • Demonstrated Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions in contracts.

  • Demonstrated Strong Project Management: Ability to manage the RFP process from start to finish, ensuring all steps are completed on time and within budget.

  • Demonstrated Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

  • Demonstrated Financial Acumen: Understanding of cost structures, budgeting, and financial analysis to drive cost savings.

  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate them. Communicate and articulate potential risks to other members of Strategic Sourcing team as needed.

  • Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with contract law and regulations related to procurement to ensure compliance.

These skills enable a Sourcing or RFP professional to effectively manage the procurement process, from the strategic planning of sourcing to the execution of contracts and management of supplier relationships.

Knowledge, Education, Certification, Skills & Technical Proficiencies

  • College four year degree or equivalent experience

Work Environment

  • Participate in off-site training sessions and meetings.

  • Ability to be flexible with various shifts and possible overtime when business needs require.

  • Majority of day will consist of meetings and computer-based work.

  • Position may work in Alight office location or virtually.
