BMC is looking for a talented Automation Engineer to join our family working on complex and distributed software in assuring product quality.

The modernization of mainframe is the beating heart of our product line, and we achieve this goal by developing products that improve the developer experience, the mainframe integration, the speed of application development, the quality of the code and the applications security, while reducing operational costs and risks. We acquired several companies along the way, and we continue to grow, innovate, and perfect our solutions on an ongoing basis.
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
- Learning the purpose, features and use cases of the product to be tested
- Strong knowledge on designing test plans and strategies for functional and non-functional validation
- Extensive experience in manual testing identifying scenarios, writing test cases, test execution, defect management, etc
- Work with Developers and other Quality Assurance team members for validation of product functionality, via manual or automated execution of test cases
- Write test automation scripts using automation framework for regression testing
- We are targeting as much as possible automation of test cases so that testing becomes repeatable, and the QA Engineer can focus on maintaining and evolving the test suite and the scripts associated
- Track all discovered issues and defects, and validate fixes provided by developers
- Document test results
To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
- Overall 4-6 years of IBM Mainframe experience
- Strong knowledge of IBM DB2 on z/OS;
- Working knowledge of DB2 utilities like Reorg, Runstats, Load, Unload, Copy and SPUFI/QMF, SQL
- Strong experience in testing and implementing mainframe applications in an IBM z/OS environment
- Strong experience in JCL, VSAM, TSO, SDSF, JES2/3, ISPF
- Strong Diagnostics, Debugging and Troubleshooting skills
- Hands-on experience in REXX and CI/CD pipeline end to end testing
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools used such as Jira
- Knowledge of Automation tools, Jenkins, Hiperstation, TPNS will be helpful
- Source code management software (pretty much any will do e.g. GIT, ISPW)
- Good to have knowledge of product installation on Mainframe using SMP/E

At BMC we believe in pay transparency and have set the midpoint of the salary band for this role at 2,033,200 INR. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
The salary listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
