BMC Assurance is looking to hire a staff level internal audit professional (i.e., Staff Assurance Analyst) who is enthusiastic about the internal audit field and excited to become part of a dynamic organization that encourages teamwork, continuous professional development, and inventive thinking.

This is a hybrid position wherein the team works remotely on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays through Thursdays. The shift for all days worked typically begins at 12:30 pm and ends at 9:30 pm.

About The Position

Based in Pune and reporting to a member of the Assurance management team, this position is pivotal in supporting organizational teammates and objectives by employing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of systems, processes, people, and controls. As a Staff Assurance Analyst, you will actively contribute to engagement planning, risk assessment, and testing. Given the global scope of our reviews, occasional travel of up to 10% is expected annually.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Control Evaluations: Build and maintain positive relationships with Assurance teammates, internal process owners, and accounting personnel while maintaining independence and objectivity. Participate in developing audit programs and conduct reviews and assessments of internal controls relating to financial reporting (i.e., Sarbanes-Oxley) to ensure controls are effective and compliant with regulations and organizational policies. The Staff Assurance Analyst will learn processes, procedures, systems and controls and then evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's operations. The Staff Assurance Analyst is expected to learn and apply local accounting and operations standards as well as standards promulgated by the US Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and the India Companies Act 2013.
  • Operations Auditing: Build and maintain positive relationships with teammates, internal clients, support organizations (e.g., accounting, finance, IS&T) while maintaining independence and objectivity. Participate in developing audit programs and conduct reviews and assessments of business unit operations such as Sales, Procurement, Research and Development, Professional Services, Human Resources, Facilities, and Information Systems & Technology. The Staff Assurance Analyst will exercise professional judgment and skepticism throughout the audit process and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, systems, applications, and people. The Staff Assurance Analyst is expected to learn and apply the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) produced by the Institute of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
  • Audit Follow-Up: Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and track progress to ensure that corrective actions are implemented timely. The Staff Assurance Analyst will work closely with management to address any concerns and provide support as needed.
  • Reporting: Assist in the communication of audit findings, observations, and recommendations to management in clear and concise reports. This helps stakeholders understand areas for improvement and make informed decisions to mitigate risks.
  • Continuous Professional Education (CPE) and Innovation: The Staff Assurance Analyst is expected to participate in continuous professional education, which is essential to maintaining professional competence, meeting professional certification requirements (e.g., CISA, CISM, CIA, CPA) and improve capabilities for utilizing emerging technologies. BMC views formal CPE training as an investment in both personal and organizational success in the dynamic field of internal auditing.

Qualification Requirements

  • Education: A qualified Chartered Accountant (fresher or with two years experience) or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Preferred majors include: information technology, computer science, accounting, finance, or business administration with a focus on internal audit and/or information systems. Postgraduate degrees are not required but deemed a plus.
  • Certifications: Certifications are highly desirable and expected for career growth. Preferred certifications include Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
  • Experience: Candidates should be familiar with audit methodologies, techniques, and procedures. This includes understanding risk assessment, internal controls evaluation, and compliance auditing. Previous full-time work experience in financial reporting audits, business process controls evaluations, data analytics, and business process walkthroughs assessments or other related activities is strongly desired. Audit internships or co-op opportunities completed during college will also be considered a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Staff Assurance Analysts must possess analytical skills essential for identifying patterns, trends, and anomalies in financial and operational data. Staff Assurance Analysts must be able to analyze large volumes of information efficiently and effectively. Coding experience with, and ability to read/interpret SQL, Visual Basic, and/or Python is highly desired.
  • Soft Skills: In addition to technical expertise, the Staff Assurance Analyst must possess efficiency in verbal and written communication, analytical analysis, and problem-solving. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are also critical attributes for success in this role.
