Pixxel is a space data company building a health monitor for our planet. We are doing that by deploying a constellation of some of the world's most advanced earth imaging satellites in lower earth orbit and an analytics platform (on the ground) with tools that enable easy application of this data across a multitude of sectors. Our fully deployed constellation will be capable of beaming down daily imagery of any place on earth.
Pixxel is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. As the Lead Structural Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, analysis, and optimization of satellite structures. You will lead a team of structural engineers to ensure the structural integrity and performance of our satellite platforms, contributing to the success of the companys mission.
If you love working at the cutting edge of technology and want to contribute towards making the world a better place by bringing down the benefits of space down to earth, this is the place for you.
Responsibilities
- Lead the structural engineering team in the design, analysis, and optimization of satellite structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Model spacecraft structural elements using the Finite Element Method, and conduct structural analysis using software tools to assess the integrity, stability, and performance of satellite components and assemblies.
- Manage and lead the development of innovative solutions for lightweight and robust satellite structures to meet mission requirements and performance objectives.
- Set up processes and systems to ensure standardization of FEM modeling, and analyses. Evaluate and enforce commonly-used industry standards for structural modeling and verification.
- Manage collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate structural requirements into overall spacecraft design.
- Oversee the testing and validation of structural designs through prototyping, simulation, and physical testing.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project planning activities to ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement in structural design.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to structural engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
We Expect You To Have
- BE/BTech or higher in Mechanical / Structural / Aerospace Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in the industry (or a Masters degree with 3+ years of subsequent industry experience) with experience in:
- The end-to-end execution of a structural design cycle for a space mission, incorporating manufacturing and spacecraft vibration testing for acceptance and qualification;
- Finite Element Modelling and Analysis using an industry standard FEM/FEA solver preferably NX CAD/CAM, and Simcenter NX Nastran.
- Working with the fundamental underlying mathematics and assumptions in the Finite Element Method;
- Strong understanding of materials science, finite element analysis, and structural dynamics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment;
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Familiarity with various engineering standards used in the satellite industry, including but not limited to:
- Design standards (like ones by AIAA, ASME, ECSS, etc.)
- Testing standards (like ones by ECSS, NASA, etc.)
- GD&T standards (like ASME Y14.5, etc.)
Note : This is a demanding position that requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to make tough decisions. You will be working with a team of design engineers, manufacturing vendors, cross-functional subsystems and technicians to ensure the development of robust
