Overview
The Senior R&D Engineer plays a crucial role in our organization's innovation and product development. This position requires a strong technical background, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive projects from concept to implementation. The Senior R&D Engineer will lead and contribute to the development of new products and technologies, ensuring that they meet both customer needs and business goals.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and execute research and development projects from concept to commercialization
- Conduct feasibility studies, design experiments, and analyze data to develop new products and technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, test protocols, and reports
- Identify and assess new technologies and methodologies to enhance product performance and quality
- Provide technical expertise and support to other engineering and production teams
- Utilize statistical analysis and reliability engineering techniques to optimize product designs
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure on-time and within budget project delivery
- Stay current with industry trends, competitive products, and technological advancements
- Contribute to intellectual property generation through invention disclosures and patent applications
- Lead and mentor junior engineering staff to foster a culture of continuous learning and development
- Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and research organizations to leverage expertise and capabilities
- Participate in regulatory and quality compliance activities to ensure products meet industry standards and requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in research and development, preferably in a regulated industry
- Proven track record of leading and delivering complex technical projects from concept to market launch
- Strong proficiency in design of experiments, statistical analysis, and data interpretation
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools for product design and development
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and quality systems for product development
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Knowledge of intellectual property concepts and experience in patent applications is a plus
- Ability to travel occasionally for project meetings, supplier visits, and industry conferences
- Certifications in project management or innovation methodologies are desirable
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills within a technical team environment
