Job Overview:, General Merchandising in the retail industry, you will be responsible for developing and implementing merchandising strategies to optimize product assortment, drive sales, and enhance the overall shopping experience for our customers. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of retail merchandising principles, strong analytical skills, and a passion for delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute merchandising strategies to drive sales and achieve business objectives in alignment with company goals and customer preferences.
Manage the product assortment for assigned categories, ensuring optimal selection, pricing, and presentation to meet customer needs and maximize profitability.
Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and agreements to enhance product offerings and maintain competitive pricing.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, operations, and inventory management to ensure seamless execution of merchandising plans and initiatives.
Monitor sales performance, inventory levels, and key performance indicators (KPIs), and leverage data insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
Develop and implement promotional strategies, pricing strategies, and markdown plans to optimize sales, minimize inventory risk, and maximize margins.
Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and market dynamics, and proactively identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.
2-4 years of progressive experience in merchandising, category management, or related roles within the retail industry.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing merchandising strategies to drive sales and profitability.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and cross-functional teams.
Strategic thinker with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools.
