Basic Job Functions:
- Responsible for assuring First Solar achieves best in class logistics and warehouse operations from a price, service, and performance perspective for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Leading a team of Warehouse Leads, Supervisors, Shipping & Receiving Co-coordinators to ensure department goals are met.
Education/Experience:
- At least ten (10) years experience in logistics services, including at least 5 years experience in warehouse and international logistics.
- Demonstrated International experience in logistics supplier management and relationships.
- Experience working in a large operation for a large multinational corporation.
- Demonstrated experience in logistics and warehouse to minimize demand on logistics.
- Claims related to inventory. Incoming and outgoing
- Four (4) year college degree in Supply Chain/Logistics/Transportation or Business-related field.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Negotiations skills
- Communications
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office (or equivalent)
- Systems experience with at least one MRP/ERP system. SAP preferred.
- Knowledge of warehouse and logistics terms, conditions, providers, including international situations.
- Understands local customs requirements in order to operate a warehouse and logistics functions in compliance to local regulations.
- Possess a deep knowledge of freight markets & contracts, incoterms and carriage of goods rules and regulations.
- Management of large number of subordinates and outsourced manpower (above 50)
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Business fluent in English and Tamil language, written & spoken required.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the relationship between internal and external stakeholders in order to realize and support site wide metrics and strategy.
- Work with Customs, Purchasing, Manufacturing Product Management, Customer Operations, Business Development, and customers to understand and document the logistics requirements of each group.
- Participate in negotiation with logistics providers to meet or exceed expectations of the groups identified in the above bullet, while minimizing the logistics cost to First Solar.
- Establish, document, and communicate the preferred logistics supplier(s) and logistics strategy, based on the above negotiations, to all logistics users, both internally, as well as suppliers and customers.
- Assure internal compliance with logistics supply base and strategy by all internal First Solar logistics users. Responsible for driving to centralize the external warehouse activities.
- Manages the Warehouse Operations function including receiving, inventory control, shipping, and material storage/delivery in support of manufacturing and site operations of plants. Promotes teamwork to achieve the Company Mission.
- Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process workflow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout, implementing changes.
- Continuous Improvements made to process in order to achieve gains in productivity, efficiency, and cost for all operations. Year over year improvement in key Cost & Operational metrics for warehouse operations and logistics
- Responsible for accurate work instructions / procedures to meet Sox, ISO & RBA requirements.
- Assure adherence to all First Solar processes and procedures, including ISO9000, ISO14000, RBA, safety, etc.
- Will be responsible for developing and meeting annual budgets.
- Ensuring that all operations in the warehouse (both internal and external) comply with the highest safety standards as set by the site. Ensuring compliance with all safety procedures by both associates and service providers. Driving the MHE (Material Handling Systems) Safety Enhancement Program.
- Ensuring the usage of all MHEs (Material Handling Systems) are well optimized, maintained, and safe to use.
- Experience in Insurance procedures e.g., incident claims related to inventory, cargo claims. Possess ability to engage brokers, aggrieved parties and pursue towards successful closures.
- Exposure in working with Federal and Local governments as it relates to Customs, Warehousing, MHE Safety and Labor
- Will utilize computer equipment and software systems, including MRP, as well as telephone to successfully perform job.
