Job Description
Job Purpose:
Firmware engineer for power devices in automotive and industrial applications. Create and own complex device drivers for power devices. The Engineer is responsible for developing firmware and software solutions to support Renesas power management and driver ICs interfacing with Renesas digital MCUs and SoCs. Support power attach validation activities by developing test software to exercise the complex device drivers. This role also involves ensuring that the software components are compatible with widely used AUTOSAR or FreeRTOS for architectures for Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
Principal Accountabilities
Develop of AUTOSAR-or FreeRtos Compliant Firmware specifications.
Implement and verify AUTOSAR Software Components (SWCs) and ensure proper integration with the Basic Software (BSW) and Runtime Environment (RTE).
Collaborate with applications engineers and digital teams to integrate firmware with semiconductor components, ensuring seamless operation.
Collaborate with attach validation engineers by developing test software to exercise the complex device drivers
Ensure that all firmware meets industry standards such as ISO 26262 for functional safety and other relevant automotive regulations
Implement quality assurance practices to ensure the firmware meets high standards of reliability and performance.
Key Performance Measures
Adherence to coding standards, including AUTOSAR and FreeRTOS guidelines.
Quality and quantity of issues identified during code reviews.
Adherence to industry standards such as ISO 26262 for functional safety.
Share knowledge in and outside the company using technical collateral
Demonstrate elements of Spirit of Renesas in all aspects of work
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BSEE with 3+ years professional Experience OR MSEE with 2+ years professional Experience
Deep experience, knowledge and skills in driver and application-level development
Set up development boards and testing environments to validate firmware functionality.
Hands-on experience with embedded software development and microcontroller programming.
Experience in state-of-the art tools for embedded SW development and verification.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
Proficiency in C/C++, Python programming.
Strong experience with AUTOSAR architecture and tools.
Experience with FreeRTOS or similar real-time operating systems.
Translate/Apply Autosar MCAL requirements to Renesas Microcontroller features
Knowledge of complex device driver development and hardware-software interaction.
Experience in state-of-the art tools for embedded SW development and verification.
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
Write, debug, review, test and document C/Python code according to SW Industry Standards (MISRA, ASPICE, CMMI).
Strong communication, technical presentation, and documentation skills
Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Results-oriented and able to deliver on-time under tight schedule pressure.
Additional Information
Flexible to undertake occasional international travel at short notice.
Internal interaction with IC product architect, business marketing team, applications engineering team, and field teams in Renesas
External interaction with Renesas's customers and partners
