Job Description

Work alongside developers in optimizing SQL queries within applications for best performance.
Design robust and highly scalable database systems ensuring security, reliability as well as optimal performance.
Create detailed documentation and specifications for database systems.
Conduct critical database operations such as upgrades, backups, recoveries and migrations.
Tune server resource utilization to its optimal level.
Ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration among team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

Excellent skills in SQL languages with variations across major databases
Demonstrated expertise with contemporary RDBMSs
Capable of optimizing complex SQL statements for large-scale apps
A deep understanding of the best practices in databases and techniques for optimization
Experienced at setting up/configuring database engines/clusters
The ability to translate high-level specs into resource planning
Skilled in troubleshooting common problems faced by databases users everyday
Familiarity with profiling tools which focus on server resource optimization
Proficiency in version control systems (Git/Mercurial/SVN)
Knowldge of Power PI is an added advantage.
