Job Summary
The Specialist, Business Development will be responsible for maximising income from strategic partnerships with corporates, foundations, institutions, and government agencies. The role-holder will work closely with thematic specialists and resource mobilisation team to deliver the fundraising targets as per Country Strategy Plan of ChildFund in India.
Key Responsibilities
- To plan for meeting fund-raising targets by acquiring grant resources from corporates, institutions and government agencies within the context of the overall fundraising strategy and business plan.
- To work with key internal stakeholders and program teams to develop quality funding proposals.
- To research and identify prospects, develop relationships & nurture networks to build and maintain a pipeline of prospects.
- To keep up-to-date and accurate records of all prospective donors on internal portal, (e.g. Salesforce) for reporting, tracking and evaluation purposes.
- Lead liaising with relevant government departments for technical, financial and positioning collaborations.
- Build relationships with corporate networks, large foundations, bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies.
- To attend meetings and events to collaborate, network and to strengthen at the state/cluster/National level for organizational relationships.
- To demonstrate a willingness to take on a range of tasks and to develop new skills, as appropriate to support the work of ChildFund in India.
- Any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time based on organizational requirement.
qualification/Experience/Competencies
- Post-graduation/graduation in Development Studies /Social Science/ MBA.
- At least five years of relevant experience including sound understanding of developmental / human rights / child rights and protection programs.
- Knowledge of external environment (relevant to development sector including government bodies, donor institutions, forums etc.).
- Ability to do multitasking, work under pressure and deliver quality results.
- Track record of securing large grants from corporate commitment and of sustaining a portfolio of corporate relationships.
- A high degree of commercial awareness to understand the needs of corporate supporters and present fundraising opportunities effectively and tenacity for negotiating major, long-term commitments and contracts.
- Experience of working with the CSR and/ or Events teams from large corporates.
- Ability to work with individuals at the highest level, both externally and internally, including board members.
- A good self-starter and team player who demonstrates willingness to share information and ability to communicate positively and effectively with all stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge and experience of working with MS Office applications and analytics applications.
- Be gender sensitive with strong conviction and skills for the empowerment of excluded and disadvantaged children.
