Working closely with local management and the SOX central team (based in London), you will be entrusted with performing the
following always in accordance with PCAOB methodology and SOX best practices.
SOX Controls Lifecycle
- Develop and document PCAOB-compliant scoping documents.
- Create, update, document and maintain up to date risk assessments using the Rio Tinto SOX Risk
Universe.
- Perform and document end-to-end walkthroughs. You should be proficient in key business processes
such as PTP, payroll, FSCP, capital assets, including ITGC and IUC/IPE.
- Develop test scripts for control testing by our service providers.
- Conduct operating effectiveness testing.
- Create, implement and monitor remediation procedures.
- Update documentation, including process flowcharts, narratives, and the risk and controls matrix, using
WDesk.
Outsourced Service Provider Monitoring
- Directly reporting to the SOX Director in London, serve as the primary day to day SOX Central Team
contact for the India-based outsourced service provider.
- Develop and oversee the planning, monitoring, and execution of SOX programme testing.
- Lead the SOX Quality Assurance function.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives
- Identify opportunities for automation, simplification, system enhancements, and process
standardisation within SOX business processes managed by Group Services.
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance both efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support Group Services and local teams in integrating new entities into the Operating Model, ensuring
maximum efficiency from Day 1.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction with
SOX programme controls performed by Group Services.
- Participate in interactions with external auditors.
- Collaborate with the SOX Central Team to manage and develop the SOX programme budget.
Team Development and Management
- Identify SOX training needs and develop/deliver training materials.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Group Services on internal control processes, promoting professional growth and efficient execution of payroll operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and efficiency within the team.
- MCAP Material Control for ESG
- Work closely with the MCAP team to understand assurance requirements for ESG controls.
- Partner with the HSES Information Services team to design, implement, and test MCAPB material controls for ESG.
- Perform remediation control activities as necessary.
- Support the MCAPB team in assessing the severity of identified material control deficiencies.

What Experience, Skills And Qualifications Are Required
Minimum of 10 years experience in designing, implementing, and managing SOX programmes
CA, CPA, or equivalent postgraduate finance or accounting qualification/accreditation
Preferably trained and qualified at a Big 4 accounting firm
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with experience in Workiva WDesk
Excellent networking and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across the organization and
present to senior management
Exposure to internal controls related to ESG would be an advantage
