Position Summary
Responsible for sourcing goods and services requiring application of advanced purchasing principles, theories and concepts. Prepares, negotiates, issues, and manages agreements to minimize risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value continuity of supply
Responsibilities
- Define and implement Category/Commodity Strategies to minimize risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value continuity of supply. Includes spend aggregation, and supplier consolidation, rationalization, and segmentation.
- Negotiate Strategic Agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions.
- Focal point within the assigned Category for supplier performance risk escalation.
- Leverage and manage supplier relationships to create a competitive advantage. Works with suppliers on Continuous Improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of market conditions and industry trends related to assigned Category.
- Identifies and develops alternate sources of supply. Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates capabilities. May complete supplier certification as part of a technical and/or quality team.
- Applies Continuous Improvement techniques to internal procurement processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensures all key stakeholders are actively involved in the solicitation, negotiation, and award process.
- Mentors and trains new team members as needed.
- Actively participates in High Performance Teams to improve value stream performance.
Qualifications
Qualifications
BE Mechanical / Production or equivalent
Professional Certification ASCM (APICS) or ISM preferred
Minimum of 10-15 years with experience in supplier development and sourcing activities for Castings and machined products.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
Understanding of lean enterprise principles and practices.
