You can code: You are comfortable programming in at least one high-level language such as Python, PowerShell, or Ruby and are willing to learn more!
You are an effective communicator: You can demonstrate effective communication skills to clearly state priorities and provide direction. You can present complex technical information in clear and easy to understand manner to various audiences.
You have some cloud experience: You have a basic understanding of cloud computing in at least one of the Big Two clouds (Amazon, Azure) and understand how to leverage cloud technologies to manage systems and infrastructure.
You are a problem solver: You apply an evidence-based approach to solving service problems in real time to provide the fastest path to recovery.
About The Role
- We use agile/lean development frameworks like Scrum to manage our work.
- We are driven by quality, not quantity and ensure our services are robust and resilient.
- We automate as much as we can using a heavy integration of pipelines, micro-services, and 3rd party SaaS services and custom software when appropriate.
- We produce a lot of data and work with our analysts to make sense of it. We try to identify trends and find potential issues before they cause problems.
- We understand cloud technologies and platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI. We use their APIs and configuration tools.
About You
You are a fit for the role of Cloud Engineer if you have:
- 6+ years progressive technology experience and a drive to build a career working on cloud infrastructure and automation.
- Hands on experience in AWS (Amazon Web Services)
- Understanding of cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technology such as Terraform, BICEP, or CloudFormation.
- Experience in using Python/PowerShell
- A basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- A basic understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Experience administering Windows or Linux servers.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate large, complex designs in easy terms.
- Ability to coach other team members, guide them through complex issues, and help up-skill you and your peers.
Desired Skills
- Bachelor of Computer Science or related field; or equivalent level of experience.
- Experience building Golden Machine Images in the cloud.
- Experience with OS patch management and patch automation.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or other IaC technology.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience with Windows or Linux systems automation.
- Experience with security concepts in cloud and on the operating system.
Experience with CI/CD concepts and pipeline development
