Job Title: Software Engineer - Mainframe
Location: Bangalore

Impact & contribution
As Software Engineer (Mainframe), you will be responsible for contributing to Merchant Technology initiatives for ongoing change and development of the Bank's highest volume retail transaction switch. The Team works to deliver exceptional outcomes for our business stakeholders and customers.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within the team to apply the principles of design, development, testing, deployment, support, and evaluation.
- Contribute towards simple to medium complexity Mainframe engineering initiatives.
- Develop high quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage.
- Utilise understanding of Payments business to deliver best business outcomes through technical implementation.
- Follow best practices and industry standards in the Team.
- Contribute to the technical design for system enhancements.
- Participate as member of software development team with minimal supervision and occasional guidance.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Contribute in support and technical troubleshooting activity.
Essential Skills
- A background in IBM mainframe engineering of 5+ years, covering both development and system operations.
- Understanding of mainframe technology, capabilities, concepts and features: COBOL, Assembler (Mandatory), CICS, InterTest, Endevor, REXX, VSAM, MQ, Easytrieve, ZOWE, Control-M, Control-D & JCL
- Knowledge of impact analysis tool ADDI (Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence).
- Knowledge and experience in Merchant Acquiring, Switching or CardsAcquiring payment standards.
- Knowledge in AS2805, ISO8583, EMV and EFTPOS payment methods.
- COBOL upgrade experience from any lower version to Enterprise COBOL v6 and above.
- Knowledge of modern development methodologies and processes, covering DevOps tooling and approaches, and how they can be applied to mainframe environments.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree/master's degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology or any similar stream
