We are seeking a skilled and versatile Software Documentation Specialist to join our team, with a
primary focus on Technical Writing. The ideal candidate will play a key role in eliciting, analyzing, and
documenting business requirements while contributing to the creation of technical documentation.
This hybrid role requires an individual who can bridge the gap between business needs and technical
solutions, ensuring both clarity in communication and alignment with product objectives.
Responsibilities:
Technical Writing:
Documentation Creation: Develop and maintain a range of technical documentation,
including user manuals, API documentation, online help systems, and release notes.
Collaboration with Development Teams: Work with engineering and product teams to
gather the necessary technical information for documentation and ensure it aligns with
product features.
Documentation Style Guide: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a style guide,
ensuring consistency and clarity in all written materials.
Visuals & Diagrams: Use figures, tables, and flowcharts to enhance written documentation,
ensuring that complex concepts are communicated effectively.
Continuous Improvement: Review and update documentation as new features are
developed or as business requirements change.
Business Analysis:
Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders to understand and document
business requirements, user needs, and technical constraints.
Process Analysis: Analyze and document existing business processes, workflows, and
systems to identify areas for improvement.
Create Specifications: Develop clear and detailed functional specifications, use cases, user
stories, and process flows that guide product development.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders, product
managers, and technical teams to ensure alignment on objectives and solutions.
Gap Analysis: Conduct assessments to identify gaps between current system capabilities and
business needs, proposing solutions to address them.
Agile Support: Participate in Agile ceremonies (such as sprint planning and backlog
refinement) and support the development team in clarifying requirements during the
product lifecycle.
Other Responsibilities:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends in business analysis and technical writing.
Collaborate across teams to ensure that documentation is fit for both customer-facing and
internal use.
Contribute to improving documentation processes and ensuring it aligns with the overall
goals of the product development lifecycle.
Actively participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other team collaboration efforts
to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information
systems, or a related field.
Business Analysis Experience: Proven experience as a Business Analyst, with the ability to
translate business needs into functional requirements and technical specifications.
Technical Writing Experience: Experience writing clear, concise, and accurate documentation
for technical audiences. Familiarity with creating user manuals, API documentation, and
release notes is preferred.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to identify
opportunities for process improvements and optimizations.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to
communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Agile Methodology: Experience working within an Agile environment, with knowledge of
Agile ceremonies and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
Technical Tools: Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and MS Visio for business
analysis and documentation management.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in both requirements and
technical documentation.
Collaboration: Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with cross-functional
teams (product managers, developers, stakeholders).
Preferred Qualifications:
Domain Knowledge: Experience in the civil engineering or infrastructure domain is a plus,
but not required.
Documentation Tools: Familiarity with documentation publishing tools such as MadCap
Flare, RoboHelp, Wikis, or Zendesk.
Software Development Knowledge: Understanding of software development methodologies
(Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and their impact on requirements and documentation.
Continuous Learning: A strong desire to grow and develop both business analysis and
technical writing skills.
