The Amazon Search team owns the software that powers Search - a critical customer-focused feature of Amazon. We design, build, and operate Search across all devices, categories, and locales worldwide. Whenever you visit an Amazon site anywhere in the world, it's our technology that delivers you outstanding search results. Our services are used by millions of Amazon customers a day.
Search Engine Config Infra (SECI) is the team that owns the systems responsible for configuring the indexing and query behaviors that implement Amazon Search's product search engine. Our customers are the hundreds of Amazonians who need to easily and confidently change search engine behavior while respecting Amazon Search's processes and guardrails.
As a Software Engineer On This Team You Will
- Evolve and grow state of the art search configuration infrastructure using cutting-edge frameworks and technologies
- Support sophisticated configuration requirements for Amazon Search services including navigation, matching and ranking
- Lead the design, implementation, and operational excellence of critical services for search configuration
- Maintain a focus on scalability, latency, performance robustness, and cost trade-offs in a containerized cloud-based environment
- Share knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
