India's quick commerce (Hyperlocal) market is experiencing rapid growth due to increasing smartphone penetration and a young tech-savvy population. Flipkart pioneered quick commerce by launching Flipkart-quick in 2020 (peak of covid), an industry first. However, this was shut down in 2022 due to bad unit economics. Flipkart is now re-entering the quick commerce market.
We are looking for seasoned engineers who are quality conscious, product thinkers, business cognizant and smart not mere coders. About Team
Assets platform which provides capabilities for effective and efficient placement of inventory, manage the movement of inventory within or across the facilities to serve b2c and b2b orders of various marketplace or external sellers.
As we speak, We are on a journey to re-think the warehouse tech platform which supports a range of facilities like from highly automated large ones to small dark stores and be able to operate across different types of supply chains(Grocery, Hyperlocal, Non-Large, Large etc) seamlessly.
Key Problems and Challenges
- WAAS (Warehouse As a Service) - Building New Age Assets Platform which supports various Flipkart use-cases across supply chains and also be able to provide it as service outside Flipkart like FCC, EKart Externalization & FK Health.
- Scale up of Highly Automated Large Warehouses - With Advanced robotics, Most of the warehouse operations like inventory placements, picking and packing are being automated and we are building solutions which seamlessly integrate with various WCS (Warehouse Control Systems) in scalable and reliable way to achieve higher throughput and better visibility.
- Inventory Placements & Picking Optimization in Real Time - Effective and Efficient placement of inventory is very crucial to reduce warehouse operator effort (Hence cost) and achieve desired speed. We are working on real time optimization solutions for both inventory placement and pick path optimization.
Job Responsibilities (What You'll Do)
- Research, design and build highly reliable, available and scalable platforms
- Complete ownership of Service/Services that your team is responsible for
- Lead by example, mentor and guide team members on everything from structured problem solving to development of best practices
- Platformize components as libraries, utilities and services and promote reuse.
- Own large technical deliverables and execute in an exemplary way
- Be able to conceptualize and develop prototype quickly
- Drive technical roadmap of the team in collaboration with Engineering and Product
Qualifications
- Deep expertise in at least one programming language & tech stack.
- Substantial experience in building complex and scalable solutions.
- Strong object oriented design skills, ability to apply design patterns, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive module and class-level interfaces
- The ability to do deep problem solving and build elegant, maintainable solutions to complex problems.
- Experience leading multi-engineer projects and mentoring junior engineers
- Experience with full life cycle development in any programming language on a Linux platform
- Comprehensive operational experience including, optimizations, deployments and tuning servers like apache/mysql/tomcat/solr
- Prior experience in working with Agile software methodologies (XP, Scrum), TDD and Continuous Integration(CI/CD) a plus.
- BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent). Or high technical acumen and rich technical experience.
- Experience in building data-driven web application design and development is a plus
- Expert level experience in building scalable, large and complex business applications using some of above technologies and mentoring junior engineers.

Skills/ Tech Stack
Deep expertise with any or combination programming languages: Java, C++, C#, Ruby, PHP, any objected oriented high-level proprietary or open source language with strong programming constructs. We are not skill-specific but go by strength in competencies.
What do we evaluate for a good fitment
- Strong System Characterization and identification of technical requirements
- Distributed Systems Architecture, components modeling, data flow, Scaling and managing large pieces of data
- Articulating system requirements, problem comprehension and identifying high level building blocks
- Non-functional requirements (NFRs) like Scalability, Fault-Tolerance, High Availability, Sharding, Replication, Load balance & Application-level Security etc.
- Architectural & Design Choices, Deep knowledge on one or more tech stacks, identify alternative tech choices and trade-offs
- Strong problem-Solving skills, Identify feasible alternatives and freeze on the optimal choice of data structures and advanced algorithms
- Ability to work in fuzzy environments and complex environments
- Able to take high ownership of complex system components and drive it to the next level
- Machine Coding (Able to write modular and functionally complete object oriented code, NFR implementation, abstractions, separation of concerns, concurrency & thread safety, extensibility, hooks etc)
- Good exposure both with tech breadth and tech depth
- Good skills in Metrics and Monitoring
