Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold a BA/MA in Psychology with a strong understanding of social and emotional development in children and adolescents. While some teaching experience is preferable, individuals with a background in psychology and a keen interest in education are encouraged to apply. The SEL Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that fosters social and emotional growth, creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, and collaborating with other educators and support staff to meet the diverse needs of our students.
- Develop and implement SEL curriculum tailored to the needs and developmental levels of students.
- Facilitate lessons and activities that promote self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage students and foster their social and emotional development.
- Establish and maintain a positive and supportive classroom climate where all students feel valued, respected, and safe.
- Provide individual and group counseling or support as needed to address social and emotional challenges.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support the holistic development of students.
- Monitor and assess student progress in SEL competencies, providing feedback and implementing interventions as necessary.
- Stay informed about current research and best practices in SEL and integrate new findings into instructional practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to SEL and effective teaching strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic performance related to SEL.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Some teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, with a focus on social and emotional growth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting the well-being of students.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with varying social and emotional strengths and challenges.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail for planning and implementing SEL curriculum and activities.
- Flexibility and openness to collaboration with colleagues and willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
