Job Title: Hotel Shift Manager
- Reports to: General Manager / Operations Manager
- Job Overview: The Hotel Shift Manager oversees all aspects of hotel operations during their shift. This includes managing staff, ensuring guest satisfaction, handling emergencies, and maintaining hotel standards. The shift manager ensures that all departments operate efficiently and that guests have a pleasant experience.
Staff Management:- Supervise and coordinate the activities of hotel staff, including front desk agents, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage personnel.
Conduct shift briefings to ensure staff is well-informed and prepared for their duties.- Assist in training and developing team members to maintain high service standards.
Address any personnel issues or conflicts promptly and effectively.
Ensure that guests receive prompt and courteous service.- Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns in a professional manner.
Monitor guest satisfaction levels and implement improvements as needed.
- Oversee check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Operational Oversight:
- Ensure the hotel operates smoothly and efficiently during the shift.
Conduct regular inspections of the hotel premises to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met.
- Oversee the implementation of hotel policies and procedures.
Monitor and manage inventory levels of supplies and equipment.Financial Management:
Ensure accurate processing of financial transactions, including guest payments and cash handling.
- Assist with budgeting and financial reporting as required.
Control operational costs and minimize waste.Safety and Security:
Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and hotel property.
- Handle emergencies such as fire, power outages, or medical situations in accordance with hotel policies.
Conduct regular safety and security checks.Communication:
Maintain effective communication with all departments and the management team.
- Provide detailed reports on shift activities, guest feedback, and any incidents to the general manager.
Ensure proper handover between shifts to maintain continuity of operations.
High school diploma or equivalent; degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality industry.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations and make decisions under pressure.- Proficiency in hotel management software and MS Office.
Knowledge of safety and security procedures.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Fast-paced environment.- Direct interaction with guests and staff.
Potential for exposure to various weather conditions depending on the location and structure of the hotel.
